i just recently found out that state unemployment tax is not withheld from partners salary , now that i know easily understand why. but my question is: HOW DO I NOT APPLY THIS TAX TO BE EXEMPT. PLEASE HELP..AS I WAS VOLUNTEERED FOR THIS JOB.... mrs.kay1

Thank you for your post to the PenSoft Community Forum. There are 2 options to removing a partner from unemployment filing in PenSoft. You can remove the partner completely so the wages are completely omitted from all unemployment totals and the name is excluded from the continuation sheet. You can also mark the partner as exempt from unemployment so the income is possibly included in the totals, but omitted from the taxable wage depending on the state and how income is reported. The partner would also appear on the continuation sheet but with zero taxable wages.

You should always check with your accountant or tax advisor when reviewing rules and regulations or considering making tax changes to your PenSoft software.
